Genetic Counselor Panel on 1/26/2024
Join the University of Washington Genetic Counseling Graduate Program (UW GCGP) community for Diverse Perspectives on Genetic Counselor Identities on January 26, 2024 from 9:00-10:30 AM PST.
This event will feature a panel discussion of genetic counselors with diverse backgrounds speaking on how their identities have shaped their practice of genetic counseling. This panel aims to provide current and prospective genetic counseling students with ways identity can impact their career through how they interact with peers, other genetic counselors, co-workers, and patients.
Panelists include:

• Elizabeth Chavez, Genetic Counselor, Swedish Cancer Institute, Seattle, Washington
• Susheela "Sheela" Jayaraman, Genetic Counselor, Queens Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii
• Mercy Laurino, Genetic Counselor and Director, Cancer Genetics and Prevention, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Seattle, Washington
• Devin Shuman, Genetic Counselor, Genetic Support Foundation, Olympia, Washington
The panel will be co-facilitated by Clara Moiseyeva (UW GCGP Class of 2024) and Mahi Gandhi (UW GCGP Class of 2025).
OPEN to prospective genetic counseling students, current genetic counseling students, and genetic counselors.
