Kathleen earned her bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biology from Washington State University and her master's degree in genetic counseling from the University of South Carolina. She has been a genetic counselor at EvergreenHealth since 2000. For the first 26 years she worked exclusively as a prenatal genetic counselor in Maternal Fetal Medicine, but in 2026 the neurogenetics service opened and she sees patients there 1-2 days a month. During her time at EvergreenHealth she has had the opportunity to serve in positions across the organization such as the Clinical Pastoral Education Advisory Committee from 2004-2011 and as a current member of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Council. She has been a clinical supervisor of genetic counseling students since 2010 for a variety of graduate programs, but exclusively for UWGCGP students since the program opened.
