Alanis Quiñones Vega receives Pooja Way Scholarship

CONGRATULATIONS to Alanis Quiñones Vega (she/her), first-year genetic counseling graduate student, who is an Honoree for the Pooja Way Scholarship for genetic counseling students!

Genetic counseling combines Alanis’s love for healthcare, genetics, and her community. Living in Puerto Rico, she has always felt frustrated by the lack of resources that could help her fellow citizens. Puerto Rico lacks health professionals and genetic specialists are practically nonexistent. In becoming a genetic counselor, Alanis aims to reduce barriers for Puerto Rican citizens in need of genetic services and for those wishing to work in the field. Congratulations again, Alanis!
